Day 3: There be dragons
A surreal prompt from NaPoWriMo
Dragon Green
Lost amid a pile of paint palettes, waiting for inspiration to strike, shivering in the frequent blasts of chilly air arriving with new shoppers, browsers and various trades. Decor being not remotely my thing, a silent plea for help seemed consigned to the void, the universe currently busy, when warm breath whispered, “Have you considered dragon green as a shade?”
Clueless I turned to ask, “From what range?” Found it displayed on an ample form, towering, yet stooping to speak softly. Scales shimmering in iridescent hues of forest, hunter, teal, viridian, jade. “Ma-ma-marvelous hues, looks g-g-good on you,” I stammered as the creature smiled and preened. “Perhaps a little dramatic for a kitchen?” Pondering, then nodding in assent, next proffered a darling apple white in eggshell sheen, custom made.
“Perfect! You really have a flair for this! Perhaps?” Before the thought fully formed, Devyn accepted with a shake, seizing the challenge as eagerly as I set it down — becoming the first interior designing dragon, in hot demand and handsomely paid.
