The beginning of an unusual love story at NaPoWriMo
Lifelong Love
How long have I loved you?
Since you first showed me
what love is and what it could be
So love and life, and loving life
all this and more began with you
The spark you kindled
burned within, without consuming
became a beacon in the dark
and refuge from a cold world
glorious conflagration that began with you
Yours the patient, guiding light,
leading, pointing, gently urging
to discover, explore, embrace
letting me find my feet, my own space
a safe place that began with you
Yours the echo that lingers
in my mind, my heart, my soul
filling me with questions, hungry
to know, to understand, to make sense
to connect with all that began with you
How long have I loved you?
Since I learned to love, loving to learn that
learning is everything and everything is learning
and nothing is or can be complete without
the lifelong love of learning that is you
